Rising abruptly from the flat expanse of the Cholistan Desert, Derawar Fort is a massive square structure with towering circular bastions that are visible from a considerable distance across the desert. Its scale is the main draw, a fortress built to project power over the surrounding desert trade routes rather than serve as a royal residence. Reaching it means a drive out through open desert landscape, which adds to the sense of arriving somewhere remote and imposing.
