Rising above the old city on a raised mound, the Shrine of Shah Rukn-e-Alam is one of the most recognisable domed structures in Multan, built from brick with bands of turquoise and blue tile work wrapping around its octagonal base. It's often cited as one of the finest examples of Multani tomb architecture, a style that later influenced tomb-building elsewhere in the region. The shrine remains an active pilgrimage site, with its elevated position making it visible from much of the surrounding old city.
