The Manthal Buddha Rock is a carved Buddha figure near Skardu dating to the region's Buddhist period, set beside a small shrine that continues to draw local visitors. Like the Kargah Buddha near Gilgit, it's a reminder that this part of northern Pakistan sat along Buddhist trade and pilgrimage routes long before the arrival of Islam. The carving is smaller in scale than some other regional examples but no less significant historically.
