Shigar Fort is a restored fort-palace in the Shigar Valley near Skardu, originally built as a residence for local rulers and now operated as a heritage guesthouse and small museum. The restoration work has kept much of its original stone-and-wood construction intact, giving visitors a rare chance to see the interior of a working Balti-era fort rather than just its exterior. Its setting within the wider Shigar Valley adds orchards and farmland to the mountain backdrop.
