Bukkur Island sits in the Indus River between Sukkur and the neighbouring town of Rohri, historically significant as a fortified position that controlled river traffic and trade passing through this stretch of the Indus. Its central position in the river made it strategically valuable long before the modern bridges were built, and remnants of that historical role can still be traced across the island today.
