Lahore Fort anchors the northern edge of the Walled City, a sprawling complex of courtyards, halls and gateways built up over generations of Mughal rule. Inside, the Sheesh Mahal glitters with mirrored mosaic work, while the Alamgiri Gate opens straight onto the plaza shared with Badshahi Mosque. Wandering through its palace quarters and gardens gives a sense of how the fort worked as both a royal residence and a seat of power, with each section reflecting a different era's taste in decoration and defence. It remains one of the most complete Mughal-era forts left standing in Pakistan.
